Where do you draw inspiration from? For your promos, character changes, storylines, etc?
I have a lot of muses and it would take essays to bring them all up,
One big example I have found a lot of inspiration in religion. When I had more time I used to study Hinduism, Hebrew culture, Bhuddism, Kemetism, Christianity and a little bit of esoteric mysticism which inspired several incarnations of my Methuselah incarnation, as well as Soothsayer Hamasa. The tropes, character archetypes, motifs and themes , and symbols inspire me so much.
A lot of it also just comes to me, many times on the fly. Entire storylines usually come to me based off of sparks in my head while I’m writing. The entire second half of the me vs cam feud was based off of me thinking to myself “what would camerons mother think about the stuff I’m saying to her daughter?”
I think a major cheat code for me as a writer has always been to treat every element of a story or a script as if they are all living things, with reactions, reactions to reactions, and unique spins. Life is not formulaic, it is not a video game generated series of events. You must also put yourself in the perspective of every character u are writing for. You must analyze every word the character is saying, and think about if that is what they would say, and if they are justified in their own minds to say it.
As a promoer, inspiration depends on what character I’m playing at the time. A lot of times writing is like digging into a scab, in the sense that the reaction of pain that you feel is visceral. The material providing the source to your promos ought to be just as visceral a reaction. You have to be willing to completely reset your toolbox of muses at a monents notice, and find what thoughts, songs, stories and places make you react the most, and then channel that into whatever you’re writing.
At least that’s what I tell myself, sorry long winded answer lol, you got me going
