You're right, Myles. You're not free.
But… What makes you think you ever were?
Your imprisonment didn't begin at King of Elite 2021. It didn't begin when we joined forces, or even when we first came in contact with each other. It began the day you decided that professional wrestling is what the future held for you. Once it was decided that you'd join an industry like this, you lost your freedom and became yet another person slaving away, killing themselves for recognition. You joined this company looking to rise up the ranks, chasing after the selfish desires that were only formed thanks to the same brainwashing everyone endures once they step foot in this business. You joined this company more than willing to do the exact same things anyone else in your position would. Shortening your lifespan for the sake of becoming Champion. Destroying your own body just so you could be the next person recognized as "the future of EAW". Fighting such needless wars all for the sake of success that was all stripped away with just a few powerbombs. Do you really consider this free will? If the wrestling industry was actually full of people with the freedom to choose what's next for them, do you actually believe they'd all just fall in line and do exactly what everyone around them is doing, what everyone before them has already done, and what everyone after them will do? Do you actually believe that the people of this industry are actually sane, because I do not. I don't believe that at all, and neither did you. You knew just as well as I did that this business was full of horrible people. You knew just as well as I did that this place needed to change in order for it to have any place in society, because the product these people have been fed for years is harmful and all it's doing is breeding more people who share the same beliefs as Minerva, Kassidy Heart, TLA, Yhwach O'Hara, and all of these other people that have done nothing but PROVE ME RIGHT. I didn't force you to do anything, Myles. I didn't say we HAD to team up. I didn't leave you with no other option but to join forces with me. I gave you a suggestion, a suggestion that you considered and ultimately accepted because you knew that I was right. Just like me, you believed that the only way to turn things around and give people a world where they're no longer held back by their own greed was to push this industry forward. The shadow that exists isn't there because of me, or because of anything that I could've possibly done to you. It's there because unlike most Elitists you actually experienced freedom, and you threw it away for someone that loves the EAW Championship far more than she could ever love you. Defeating me won't set you free. Even killing me wouldn't do it. All you'd be doing is throwing away the key.
Your problem with me is that I won't take responsibility for issues that have nothing to do with me. Do you realize just how stupid you sound? Why would I apologize for something I'm not sorry for? Why would I apologize when I didn't do anything wrong? What do you want me to do, Myles, say sorry to Minerva because she wasn't trustworthy enough to remain in New Eden? That's not going to happen and you know it, because I was not wrong. Say what you want Myles, but you have not been able to deny the fact that Minerva is what I say she is. You haven't been able to argue against the fact that she's someone that prioritizes Championships above all else. You haven't even been able to deny the fact that the EAW World Championship was prioritized over your own relationship just this year, so what is it I'm supposed to be apologizing for? Keeping my promise rather than allowing Minerva to be the exception? I'm not like you, Myles. I'm not going to be stabbed in the back just to brush it off and continue to trust the person responsible. That flaw is what's constantly gotten you into trouble for the past year. If you weren't like that, you wouldn't have had to miss nearly an entire half of this season. If you weren't like that, you wouldn't have had to put up with such a fragile relationship. If you weren't like that, you wouldn't have to be in this match. That's why your Adam and Eve comparison is flawed. Treating me as Satan, as if New Eden was an act of manipulation on my part rather than something you showed interest in. Treating me as if I'm the devil for trying to save you, all while Minerva rejected the idea from the very beginning and only used that group as a platform for herself. You supposedly care so much about people taking responsibility for their actions yet you choose to overlook every word that comes out of Minerva's mouth because you know that actually listening to her would mean proving me right. You choose to ignore everything she's done to you in the past year because you know that actually confronting her about her greed would mean admitting that I was NEVER wrong. You don't want to admit that, so you're trying your best to avoid going down that road and instead pretending that this is all my mess to clean up. You're choosing to die on a hill that with time will cease to exist, and when this entire industry has fallen you'll begin to realize that all of this was for nothing. Your insistence that I was the problem, your willingness to defend Minerva, it'll all be for nothing. I was never Satan in the story, Myles. I gave you all the warnings. I told you what you were getting yourself into. I tried to get you to listen, and you ignored me. This is God's wrath.
I fail to see how I've said anything invalid, especially when you admit that you handled things terribly when it came to Minerva. You allowed your emotions to get the better of you, showing your true colors as you pushed Minerva away and set your sights on the title she carried around. If that's not choosing the Championship over her, then I'm not sure what is. Since then you've done your best to save face, but the Myles of three years ago wouldn't have been in that position in the first place. That Myles would have done better. The Myles that existed before you faced Minerva wouldn't have been so selfish. The Myles that existed before Minerva gained the opportunity to get close to you would have never allowed his emotions to take him down the path you went on, because he actually would've kept his promises and continued fighting for a better EAW. Blaming your actions simply on your emotions all while saying you "admit" to your own childish behavior, it all just makes me wonder whether or not you even have the slightest idea what you're really saying. I hear you loud and clear Myles. I've been listening to you this entire time, including every time you've apologized to Minerva for your actions. The fact that I've said the things I said shouldn't be a sign that I couldn't comprehend your words or that I wasn't paying close enough attention, it should be a sign that I don't care. When you attacked me on Voltage, it didn't actually benefit you. It didn't help you in any way, shape or form. The only thing it did was bring you "closer" to Minerva. Do you just think I didn't take note of that? Did you think I wasn't thinking about your actions, despite the fact that we literally opened this week talking about them? The fact remains that you chose that title over Minerva. It's not as terrible as everything Minerva has done, and the events at the start of the year only happened because of everything Minerva has done to you, but that fact is still a fact. A fact that you've done everything you could to avoid being reminded of, as if situations like that aren't bound to happen again despite the supposed "efforts" being made to prevent it. You can't run away from this, and even IF you were able to defeat me, you'd still be the man you were back at King of Elite. You'd still be the man trapped in the shell Minerva created for him. You'd still be a disappointment. That's why I find your delusions so ridiculous. That's why I can't even imagine being in your shoes, knowing that you're just setting yourself up for a career full of failure.
No matter what happens this weekend, you're going to spend the rest of your career as a man burdened by his own inability to determine what's actually important.
Is that freedom to you?
You believed in this ideology before I did, yet you so easily were able to discard it. You so easily were able to throw it away, or "turn over a new leaf" as they say. You so easily were able to stab me in the back because you'd rather watch this industry remain as it is than see Minerva get hurt by anyone but yourself. It's Stockholm syndrome. That's the closest term to define what you and everyone else in this business is going through. It's not like you're ignorant to what's going on here. You knew. You understood before I did. You just don't care anymore, even if that lack of care has done you more harm than good in the past year alone. I understand why you'd see my actions as harmful. I understand why you'd believe they're immoral, but don't you remember why I do the things that I do? Don't you remember why New Eden existed in the first place? It existed because this company was going to continue existing, enduring such a sad state as long as there was nobody there to force it to change. Somebody had to get their hands dirty in order to create a world where nobody had to, and that was US. That was the job we signed up for when we became New Eden. That was the job you signed up for when you returned to EAW nearly an entire year prior. It's a necessary evil, yet once Minerva was the one that needed to be taken out, you lost sight of that. You became just like all of those Elitists asking why I compete in matches like the Grand Rampage despite the fact that I hate it, or all of the people saying I should just leave EAW if I have such a problem with the way things are. So many people encourage such a cowardly mentality, and for a very long time it pained me knowing that you've added yourself to that list. Now here we are in 2023, and clearly you haven't learned enough from our previous encounters. Using Methuselah's words against me BEFORE you did what you did at Road to Redemption that year really doesn't prove anything, because you showed the world who you really were that night. You showed the world that your faith in EAW's future was not strong enough to stop you from following Minerva around like a pet. In the end mistakes were made by all of us. Some of us thought you actually valued this industry as much as you claimed you did, and we were proven wrong. That was our mistake. Your mistake was letting us know we were wrong. Your mistake was showing me the same thing you showed everyone else, because while they may have been able to overlook just how terrible your actions were that night, I didn't. I won't feel bad for doing what I did, Myles. I chose the future of the industry over Minerva. I made the choice that should've paved the way for true freedom.
I failed to save the industry, but I haven't given up on ridding the wrestling world of the cruel lifestyle you all suffer through. Now I just understand that the only way to do that is by getting rid of that world itself, and continue to get my hands dirty until there's no blood left to stain my hands with. I've given up on the idea that this industry could ever change, but you? You just gave up. You quit and now you're blaming me for the lack of support New Eden had rather than the fact that this industry is full of people too stubborn to ever listen to reason, which is something YOU told me. You were the first person to truly shed light on how cruel this world is yet now you're acting blind, as if the true reason people choose to stand against me rather than stand by me isn't right in front of you? Stop it, Myles. We're far past the point of all this being pathetic, now I'm beginning to question just how little sanity you really have left. You KNOW why I use a branding iron. You know why I do the things that I do. You knew it before I even started doing it, so don't do this now. Don't try to reduce my actions to a tantrum as if I haven't always explained my actions very clearly. Don't treat this as some sort of outburst. You don't get to do that after all you've said and done. I can see why some would make that kind of mistake, even if it does take some very questionable thinking to reduce all of my actions for the past seven months to a tantrum. At least with them, they have no idea what to think when they see someone like me. They've never been in my shoes. They've never even experienced being anything remotely similar to me. They don't understand how I think, and this fact alone has led to so many misconceptions over the past two and a half years, even going back as recently as Grand Rampage. You, however? You're just lying. Lying not only to me, but to yourself. Acting as if you don't understand exactly where I'm coming from, when in reality New Eden's ideology was only one step away from my current beliefs. This industry is rotten Myles, and this isn't something new. This is something we've BOTH known for years, only I've realized just how rotten it really is while you've decided to stop fighting. I can't go anywhere as long as this business continues to exist, so as much as you may hope I one day throw away my vision and end my own life, that's not going to happen.
I chose to live by my principles, even if it causes my own suffering.
The real Myles already killed himself, back in that Elimination Chamber.
That's why you've suddenly seemed to forget that we could have moved forward if you and Minerva were actually committed. We gained control of Voltage for a month and would've gotten rid of one of the most dangerous matches this company had to offer if Minerva didn't get herself involved. Did you really forget that? I know what Captain Charisma said and I don't really care, because we could've handled it if you two didn't go and make such a stupid decision behind my back. We could've figured something out just like we did for nearly an entire year if you two didn't just bring the chamber back, KNOWING I was against that decision. Saving this industry was a difficult enough task and yet we kept moving forward. You treat destroying it as some infinitely more difficult task that'll only get me ridiculed, but is that really what this is? Businesses have fallen in the past. Companies have come crashing down. The world today looks far different than it did years ago, and years from now the world will be missing an industry that never should have plagued it in the first place. EAW is the biggest company in the world when it comes to professional wrestling. Once EAW falls the rest of the industry won't take anywhere near as long to come crashing down. I'll keep moving forward until that day comes, Myles. I'll take the EAW World Championship. I'll keep taking everything away, just as New Eden did. I'll leave this company with less and less, only this time I intend to make sure that it is left with nothing. Truly Myles, I don't need you to hate me. I don't even need you to think about me after this match. I'm genuinely not concerned with whatever any of you are thinking these days, because I have no reason to be. There's a good chance that this match is the last time we face each other, at least for a very long time. That's perfectly fine with me, because you're not the one I'm after here. Your future following this match doesn't concern me any more than anyone else's. Your future after you've lost the EAW World Championship will be just as insignificant as everyone else's, because you'll all be headed down the same road anyway. The destination for everyone in this industry is the same, because after this match I will keep moving forward. I will keep tearing EAW down. I will keep fighting until every single person in this industry is given the opportunity to realize just how much time they've wasted valuing the wrong things. I will keep walking towards the end of my own journey, and at the end of that journey is the end of Elite Answers Wrestling. At the end of that journey is the end of the wrestling industry.
When this journey ends, so will your imprisonment.
When this is all over, you will be free from sin.
