BACKGROUND

At Operation Doomsday 2024, Xander Payne suffered a Posterior Shoulder Dislocation and had no choice but to put his career on hold for what doctors estimated to be six to eight months. While greatly devastated, he took this as an opportunity to do what he has never truly been able to do in a while; see his family more than once every couple weeks. His relationship with his wife and children was reinforced. Bridges formerly burned with old friends and family were rebuilt. His mind has grown sharper throughout an introspective journey. Xander Payne was medically cleared at the beginning of the summer, but he felt more gratifying continuing to be a father figure and loving husband. However, he feels his previous run left stones unturned and a legacy that he doesn’t want to be remembered for. Scoundrel. Bastard. Scumbag. That’s not him anymore. Or so that is what he has led himself to believe.

In a world that has seemingly moved on from the idea of Xander Payne competing inside of the ring, let alone for Elite Answers Wrestling, Payne has returned to the ring. This time, emphasis on this time, he is not here for the fame, the glory, the cameradie, instead give to his two children one more opportunity to see him wrestle in the ring. The EAW Hall of Famer has learned to cherish family values more than ever. Before he can rest on his laurels, he has many rights to wrong. A legacy that would leave a positive indelible mark on his industry. A legacy that his children would be proud to carry on into the future. A legacy tarnished no more.

Alignment: Tweener Anti-Hero – Everything he does is for his family and to prove that he isn’t a piece of garbage. However, he isn’t perfect and will make mistakes.


PERSONALITY

The time that Xander Payne spent with his family has allowed him to get back in touch with family values and given him a new perspective on life. Always known for being an evil antagonist, he has shattered the trust of many and allowed his temper to get the best of himself on one too many occasions. All while refusing to hold himself accountable.

Fast forward to 2024, he wants to wipe the slate clean and show the world a different side of himself. He realises he must hold himself accountable to build that trust back and prove that he isn’t the resentful bastard that everyone thinks he is.

He no longer wants to take shortcuts to the finish line and break the rules.
He no longer wants to take cheap shots; physically and vocally.
He no longer wants to let his temper run rampant and instantly opt for violence.

However, keep in mind. Old habits die hard. He might not want to do these things, but it’s easier said than done. He will struggle to fight these habits.

Sometimes, he’ll overcome those habits. Sometimes, they might just win.

Xander Payne might just crash out, and it’s all because it’s hard for him to keep his emotions in check. And the more he crashes out, the more spirals down and does bad things. Things that he doesn’t want to be known for anymore. Things that will make him unrecognisable to his wife and children.


FAMILY

Family has become one of the most important values to Xander Payne. Spending time with his family has given him motivation to create a positive legacy he wants to leave behind for the future generation. Everything he now does is in consideration of his family.

Will it add or subtract food from the table? Will it align with his wife’s values? Will they look at him the same or approve of it?

He has happily assumed the responsibility of not only providing, but protecting his family. If anyone disrespects them, even harm, he refuses to let it go until an apology is made, or they are given their consequence. With family being a super important value to him, that means it is easy for his opponents to weaponize and get in control.
