I'm looking for some general feedback on my character and promos. I was in eFeds that had a lot shorter, picture-driven promos and I feel like I am struggling to keep a theme over a longer written piece. I know I am still very new so isn't too much to judge off of, but any insight would be much appreciated. Thank you.

I am one of those that likes to write longer promos and like TLA said in his post, there are a few of us that use pics and gifs too, I am one of them, I like visuals when I write mine instead of using emoji's like some do which is also an option if you want to add any visuals to it. As for promo length itself, write with what you are comfortable with, there are very successful handlers that do not write much more than a couple of K, others write over 4-5K, all depends on the story you want to tell and the opponent you face. I personally use a narrative that explain the surroundings and I make a story out of my promos, not many do but I have always found it more enjoyable when I can tie things up with the real world. You'll find your own niche here and be able to find success. Good Luck!

Yo que onda you doing pretty well especially since you are just starting out. We don't really judge based on length of promos but if you want to do longer type shit I would just say push yo self to write longer than you are used to and you will get better at it with time. You don't even gots to stick a single theme over the whole promo either some ppl here do promos where its like the first half is talking about themselves and they character and then they respond to their opponent in the second half and talk about different things every paragraph. You can use pics too if you want some ppl use gifs in their promos. My best advice is just sit down on a day when u got some free time and just start typing like a madman and go all out as long as you can some of it might be shit but eventually u gonna work out what works for u and ur character and what don't.

Thank you for this advice. I will definitely try and do that.

If you're looking to be on the grind more, looking to post more promos, honestly for me it's always been about persistence. There have been times where I haven't kept up in matches (we don't need to talk about that) but in multi-man matches whenever I've been able to grind out more, or just matches in general, it's always because I've been persistent. That's my only tip, and in some cases, there's been no choice but to post a minority. It's all about the right time and right opponent, but of course, the mindset. If you think your opponent is going to post one promo, try your best to post two. Especially helps if you post before them, though it's obviously not that simple. As for improving, I'd take notes from other people. Every time I lose a match I go back and read through the promos, and whenever I have a tough opponent I try and find exactly why that was the case. Sometimes just reading a really good promo will give me the motivation to try harder. And of course, I don't mean blatantly copying something they've said, or a vibe they've brought in, but using that idea to broaden your own ideas and craftmanship. I know this answer isn't really a clear-cut one, but making small jumps by gathering information and inspiration has always been something that has assisted me personally because of the quality and passion put into it - which in of itself may be useful. Reading some of your promos, you have the right direction to stand out ever so slightly, and honestly, I'd apply some of this to your own work to make that even more so. Even if it's the little things such as formatting, which helped me out immensely. Hope it works for you too. :drakelike:

What do y'all do when you feel you aren't doing enough? I feel with the PPV coming up, I won't be able to keep up with the other people (specifically my teammates) because I'm newer and don't really have that much to say. I'll obviously give my heart to the promo but I feel as if it won't hit the mark because there's not much I can really say besides acknowledging the match and the people I've faced in the past.

Any help would be appreciated. :mjcry:

Don't worry about shit too much. Just cuz a homie promos more don't mean they are doing any better than you. Focus on yo own work and making that shit the best you can. I'd rather read one really good promo than 50 repetitive mfs busted out by someone who thought they were "keeping up" but were really just putting out the equivalent of watching re-runs on loop. Besides you get to have a life that way and that is a bigger W than you will ever find in efedding.

To give a similar answer to TLA, though in my own spin, I personally don't think it matters that much. Right now I care a lot about Holly's results because I've had that character for nearly a year, but way back then? It wasn't something I had to do. I've said this to Johnny Andrews and Amir Yusuf, but "keeping up" is a mindset you don't really need to have, you should focus on trying to have fun with the character before the gears really start turning. Some of my easiest work was back when @Mark Macias and I first started as a team. Figuring out how to make a unique character, slowly developing the team, updating our stats etc was some of the most fun parts of this game, and I'm sure you'd agree. The result or promo week doesn't matter in your case, because that will come with time. A perfect example of that is @Drake King. We tend to joke about his first promo, but it's really amazing seeing the improvement, and it came naturally.

Long story cut short? Focus on yourself, and your team, and put in a performance that you enjoy rather than something that aims to stand out. That in of itself will stand out. It's easy to tell when something has passion behind it, and that will take you a long way regardless of what truly happens here. Enjoy your first FPV bud. :drakelike:

a little late but just try your best and even if you do lose some matches, remember to trust the process. It’s all a journey and use losses/wins to further develop your character to give it more substance for it to work with.

I wanted to throw my two cents into this one.

Also tagging you. @Rebecca Blackwell

My character has grown from every victory. It always feels earned, and I use it to tell the story I want to tell. My character has grown with every loss. Every loss has felt unique to me, and it's something I've learned from, and it's a great tool to develop character. Treat every match like it matters, including no-shows. As stated, use losses/wins to give it more substance. But I tend to think it's the losses that count more, unless of course those wins are huge, for both in and out of character. If you look back a year ago, after each FPV Limmy changed. In my case it was getting more serious, but it could be something else for you.

Keeping up with people gets easier over time because of this. Initially, it's going to be very hard, but eventually, you get the hang of it because of that development. What Sienna said is probably better advice in a shorter message, but I hope you get my point. Don't focus on anything but Rebecca after every match, and what you can do with that work.

Good afternoon at 3PM Central Standard Time live from good ol’ Nashville, and oh boy is it a great afternoon here on God’s green earth. To those of you who watched over me to get to this very step in professional wrestling, I want to thank you for doing the right thing. You are the real heroes of America. The Office of Casper would not have been built, if you did not do the right thing. I would not be as successful as I am today, if you did not do the right thing. That dry onion skin Donald Trump would still be President of the United States…, if you did not do the right thing. It’s true that I am a smart man with a lot of influence in this country but you my people are smarter for backing this stallion across the finishing line. But we aren’t finished yet, no Sir. That was only the first lap and we have hundreds of more victory laps to go. I want to be honest with you and say it as it is because I know you aren’t stupid and neither are the people who are seeing me for the first time. They know exactly what to expect of me. 10 Gallon Hat, a suit sharp as tacks, a smile so bright that when I look forward to Greenwich Mean Time they’re living in the glorious daylight of the United States of America. I am not humble. Why should I be? I am a master technician that has honed my craft on the independent scene, the right way without a fuss.

When I was plying my trade on the indies, setting up wrestler’s court because two talentless hacks didn’t agree with the way they looked. They both wanted to be the bad guy because it’s the easy thing. They wanted to look like a badass who didn’t care what anybody had to say but themselves. I don’t need a sense of entitlement or a dark personality to roam freely, I have something called The Bill of Rights. I have something called The First Amendment. What that means is I can say whatever I want whenever I want, and I have been given that right to me by the brave men and women who represent our flag when they have served in the United States Armed Forces. I don’t need to be the most evil, despicable bastard in the locker room to get my point across because there’s a whole load of selfless veterans who lay their bodies on the line to give common men like us civilians the right to speak freely.

Thursday, November 11. Armistice Day is upon us and for those days alone I promise to you, the arrogant bastard Senator Casper is going to rein in his words. November 11 is the one day in the calendar etched to honor those brave men and women who live for America and I am more than happy to take a backseat because the other 364 days in the year will belong to me. You don’t go around the block thousand times without learning a couple of shortcuts and I got the route to victory memorized like the back of my hand.

What do you do to gain motivation for promos? I’ve had no motivation this week and put out a promo and character development last night but I felt it was bad, because I didn’t feel motivated enough.

Simply put, to gain motivation for putting out promos itself, I don't. There have been many times where I haven't felt like posting or writing a match or writing a segment, or even coming online because I know it'd be super time-consuming. However, I did it anyway. You gotta understand that it's never really for the faint of heart. Most of the time, even the littlest match that you gotta promo for - or a match you KNOW you're going to lose, etc - will very much be rewarding if you muster up the energy to post. And once you get that reward, whether it be a FPV win, a title win, or something else, that's what gets me motivated. Long story short, I get unmotivated a lot. There are times where I don't even like what I'm doing. But actually being able to put on a good showing, and realize that I did by having it pay off, that's what motivates me. I can only speak for myself, but the payoff is worth it. Developing my character is worth it. Jumping from Point-A to Point-B is simply due to your own effort.

To get into the flow of writing, however, I often listen to music whilst writing, or I watch an episode of a show I like prior to it, to give me ideas. I'll think of what to talk about, how to deliver it. That's why I have a lot of thematic promos. Because it's fun to come up with those themes.

TL;DR
Allow yourself to put in effort, trust the process, and the payoff will be great.
Find ways to make your promos fun to write.

Easier said than done, but that's what I'm motivated to do. Unless it's a match I've REALLY wanted, I find it hard to be bothered for some promo weeks, and turning that into something that I enjoy doing gives me motivation if that makes sense.

Personally, when I don't have any inspiration I go back to reading the last show I was on and who was on it. Most times it gets the ball rolling for me. If not then I read up on my opponent's previous promos if he didn't promo against me yet that week. In both cases, I end up finding a few pointers to build a promo on and I just let my creativity do the rest.

It's not always that easy, some opponents are harder to face than others for various reasons but I always find a way to produce something that I hope is good enough to be enjoyed by at least my opponent or anyone else if it's a dev promo. Otherwise, I look back on my opponent's profile and even my own and I think ''What would Wilson do?'' and it doesn't take too long normally before I find something to pin down.

Writing something you don't feel is good enough happens to everyone, I sure as hell ain't no exception but you have to give yourself a chance and not stress over something like that. Sometimes also, taking a step back from it, clearing your mind while doing something can do wonders in trying to find the motivation to get the promo done.

Also, and this is I think the most important thing: This is only a game, and we're all here to have some fun.

When it comes to this, I find this such a struggle as a heel to be honest when it comes to the losing side of things. I never know how to find a way as Jonny to make those losses mean something. The last match, Jonny was affected deeply by the loss, but not sure how to go about this. How did you or others do it when you were/are a heel guy or girl?
