I won’t pretend that Reckless Wiring went according to plan.

Plans rarely ever do. But it is not a life-or-death matter, no matter how tense it was in the moment. As close as I may have come, I failed to leave Reckless Wiring with the New Breed Championship that I had been hunting. I arranged all the players, all the events, and in the end it didn’t matter. Anna Wautier proved why she was champion in the first place. It wasn’t something that I expected in particular, but that doesn’t matter now. She outperformed the rest of us, and she left with her championship. A regrettable misstep, but not a total disaster. Nothing gained, and nothing lost, but with so much left to do this season, I’m willing to gamble on the next opportunity that passes by. Do not mistake this for complacency; I will work even harder to make sure the mistakes of Reckless Wiring do not repeat. Easier said than done, but I only have to convince myself. Anyone else could believe whatever they’d like, and perhaps it would be better to be underestimated as a New Breed. A failure can always be learned from, and while I will accept such a defeat right now, that doesn’t mean I’m going to let it change the course of my plans for this season. There is much to be done.

Welcome back, NICK. While we haven’t directly spoken since the beginning of the season where you looked to rebound after your tragic performance at Pain For Pride and I tried to make an immediate impact in a new company, you’ve also had a bit of an absence. Neither of us accomplished what we set out to do in our first confrontation, and both ended up on the wrong foot at the beginning of the new season as Kendall Von scored. You found yourself on the wrong end of another elitist’s schemes, while I wasted no time in finding the quickest route to success, though my efforts would also come up short. Missing Reckless Wiring sure was a major missed opportunity for you. Maybe you would have found something worthwhile had you not been stuck at home nursing your injuries. You went from fighting to prove you belonged here to fighting just to make sure you could show up here, isn’t that right? At Reckless Wiring you could’ve found some proper redemption for all of your previous mistakes, for your many missteps, but you didn’t even show up. You let someone else control your future, and while the presence of David Gideon Smith is almost certainly going to be a near-permanent fixture of your future, you’re going to have to do a whole lot more than just fight him for a few weeks to prove you can control your destiny. You’ve remained passive, incapable of backing your choice as you continue to value what you say over what you actually do. You let the decision leave your hands again, and now you have to continue paying for it. David may have been the current catalyst, but we both know that’s the easy way out of this. He can be a scapegoat for your problems, and that's probably what he’s been aiming for: to expose how fragile your motivations and thought process could really be. You can’t pretend to take responsibility; eventually, you will actually have to hold yourself accountable to force a change, no matter how uncomfortable it may be, but that’s not my decision. It is yours.

I’m getting ahead of myself. It really is no concern of mine if you want to continue being so passive.

It’s good that you can acknowledge some of my criticisms weeks after I made them. I know that they were true, so I didn’t need your acknowledgement, but it’s a good sign of character to at least do that much. You were stagnant, and until proven otherwise, you are still stagnant, but you’re still going to go on the counterattack. To your point, maybe my own growth hasn’t gone as expected, but I have still grown. I have learned. That, if I may say, is far more than you’ve done over the past year, let alone the last cycle. I’ve already demonstrated my ability to grow, and I will continue to do so while you continue to spout hollow words of learning from your mistakes. You never do, and you never will. Your mistakes make you, NICK. You could never shed them so easily, yet you’ve fooled yourself into thinking that you could. You have all of these people that you’d like to defend and support, to give back to them in the same way that they gave to you. It should be a selfless endeavor, but you’ve made it selfish; you’ve used their hope and praise to power you through actual criticisms, and here you are running the same song and dance, letting those criticisms go in one ear and out the other. It just doesn’t stick with you. Failure isn’t the end, but it brings the end closer and closer with each passing mistake. Learn from them, but do not repeat them. That is where you fail to recognize your missteps. As your first obstacle, I invite you to prove me wrong. With no other variables in your way, you can use me to prove me wrong and send David a message. More than that, you could use me to send the rest of Dynasty a message. I’ll do my part and work to prove you wrong, to put this conviction of yours in the ground and maybe, just maybe, leave you a little more grounded than I first met you. You’ve got no excuses, and neither do I. There’s no Kendall Von to steal your victory, so you’ve got this shot to prove that you were right about me and that I was wrong about you, unless you’re fearful that David is still circling, or that maybe I have grown after all, or maybe you’re just not as good as you claim.

Who could be certain?

Now, with this ‘part two’ under way, we’re practically picking up from where we left off. No definitive victory claimed, we look to achieve one right here. There are no questions I want left unanswered after this. I don't need to beat you because I dislike you. I don't need to beat you because I think you're beneath me. Quite frankly, I don't think either of those things are particularly useful motivations. Disdain is meaningless. Anger burns quickly. Pride makes you reckless. I've watched enough people allow those emotions to dictate their careers to understand that they are not sustainable.

I want to beat you because you are in my way.

You wanted someone who would challenge your narrative, and now you've got one. While I have no particularly deep interest in your story, I will be watching regardless of the result to see if you are a man of your word or not. Can you possibly change for the better, or will you remain stagnant as I predicted, marching on until these shortcomings of yours finally catch up with you? That’s the last question I have for you, NICK. Unfortunately, I won’t be getting an immediate answer. Not from you or from your actions in our match. That will have to wait until you’re down the road just a bit more; then I can access it again.

But that doesn’t mean there isn’t much to learn from this match, so don’t give in to those excuses again.
