UNENVIABLE ODDS

CHAPTER ONE

A DR. BETHANY BLUE & VINCENT MONDRIAN COLLAB

Dr. Bethany Blue is a woman that did not take too kindly to what happened two weeks ago on Voltage when they finally ended this feud and the turmoil that she went through with Kai Rabeaux, and the man who ended up killing her child, retiring her husband, stealing her hardcore Championship, wedding ring, and simply making her life a living hell. For after Blood Sport, that Voltage thereafter the most important thing for Bethany was to have the ability to celebrate and just put it all behind her.

But then Cataclysm attacked La Farmacia Sexual and laid them out, not allowing for Bethany to finally breathe and enjoy her victory with TLA. With that they responded the following week in a very violent way, as both Bethany and TLA did get their lick back. Bethany was angry and out of control, to the point that TLA had to refrain from her continuing, and now she looks to continue after what happened between TLA and Ryan Joseph Wilson.

Hotel Bar
Little Rock, Arkansas

REC:

Now that she arrived a day early in Little Rock Arkansas, both Dr. Bethany Blue had become good friends. TLA though has travel issues and was going to be late into town. Bethany decided to head over to the hotel bar where she was staying, sit down, have a drink and a charcuterie plate. She was wearing jeans, open toed heels, a blue buttoned up loose blouse, with her nails polished a bright red, and long sandy blonde hair straightened and hanging down. In her hand was a big glass of red wine, she was looking at her phone.

Bartender approached her, he recognizes who she is and smiles, giving her the charcuterie plate, a small cheese platter and some utensils.

“Here you go Doctor Blue and welcome again to Little Rock. Anything you need please let me know, would you like to start a tap?”, the bartender asks, his nameplate says “James”.

“Yes please, I really appreciate that, James.”, she responds. He nods and leaves to attend to other customers. She starts looking back at her phone, and calls TLA again. “Hey, what time does it say now?”, she could hear that TLA is not too happy and is thinking about getting a charter flight. “Orale, I should have just pinche drove there, Doctora. They say the flight gonna be in the air within the hora. About a 90-minute flight. You still gonna be up?”, TLA asks as she nods. “I should be unless I drink a whole bottle of wine, then I will see you in the morning. I’ll save you dinner.”, she tells her partner. “Orale, sounds like a plan, I’ll text you when I get on this pinche plane.”

Bethany just smiles and nods.

“You got it, see you soon.”

The Good Doctor pauses, she then turns back and sips her wine, starting to work on the charcuterie when another gentleman sits next to her. She turns and is surprised to see it being Vincent Mondrian. He too is a little surprised.

“What the fuck, man. You know what, either go sit somewhere else or I am out of here.”, Bethany scolds him. “There are other places to sit here, and I am guessing that you along with Ryan and Silas are staying in the same hotel that I am. Outside of EAW I normally do not care who I run into even if I have issues with them, but you and the rest of Silas World are just not the type that I am in the mood for especially right now because you make it very hard for me to act professional.”, the Good Doctor fires back not even giving Vincent the chance to say anything.

“Matter of fact, I’m going to move, go ahead and sit here, asshole.”

Vincent didn’t seem to be in the mood to cause mischief, or so it seemed. He took a seat on the leather chair, thinking about what the options were. His alcohol knowledge wasn’t too deep considering the fact that he’s only had two years since he could legally drink in America. He sat there and thought before tilting his head towards The Good Doctor, deciding on asking her himself.

“Say. What do you recommend that I get?” Vincent asks, slowly turning his gaze down to her cup. “I’m sure you’ve had your fair share of these after… Y’know… The incident.” Vincent rises his gaze back to hers, Bethany unsure if he had good or bad intentions, but with the way he worded that, she guessed that he had no good intentions at heart. “Go to hell, asshole. Like I said, I’m really not in the mood for someone like you right now.” replied Bethany.

Vincent scooted himself closer towards Bethany, getting closer and closer…

“If I was really here to do something to you, or cause any trouble at all – I would have already launched you through a window.” claimed Vincent with a cold, violent tone. Yet, he backed off right afterwards. “So? Reeeeeeelaaax. I’m here because I’ve got nowhere else to be. God knows I don’t want to hang out with Silas, and Ryan is having troubles with his flight.” said Vincent in a much more relaxed tone. He turned his gaze around the area, scoping the place out before turning back to Bethany. “I’m guessing the same for you? That or TLA just doesn’t like you at all, maybe doesn’t even care about your whereabouts or what you’re doing.”

Vincent allowed the question to linger in the air, his eyes remaining locked on Bethany, seemingly genuinely interested in the answer to his question.
Her baby brown eyes narrow as the good Doctor starts stroking her fingers on the palm of her hands, letting out a slight sigh, it was a reaction of frustration and pure annoyance.

“Throw me out the window, Vincent? You’re lucky I don’t smash this glass of wine over your head and use the shards to shove then down your fucking throat. TLA by the way is also having flight issues too like Ryan, so no, I am here by myself and if you think that either you or if Silas is lurking somewhere is planning on anything because I know how he is like with women, you have another thing coming. I would rather go sit in my hotel room by myself and enjoy this charcuterie than to talk to a disgusting man like you, so please excuse me.”

Bethany gets up to leave but Vincent stretches his arm out to stop her.

“Take your arm back now Vincent or I will break it.”, she quickly snaps back but Vincent doesn’t budge.

“Didn’t I say to relax? I’m not here to attack you, I thought I already made that crystal clear. I simply told you what could have happened, not what I am going to do. Sure, I may be lucky you didn’t hit me over the head, but the same could be said for you, no?”, Vincent quickly replied with, still not budging in the slightest. He didn’t pull her closer, he didn’t shove her back into her seat, he didn’t even raise his voice. He kept his arm stretching out to Bethany, instead, offering her a hand. “Silas isn’t here. This isn’t some elaborate setup to give me the upper hand ahead of our match at Territorial Invasion. I’m just here to drink, that some kind of despicable crime you Americans have that I don’t know about?”, Vincent stared at her, awaiting an answer. He had no malicious intent, more friendlier than anything.

After another sigh, and cautious, Bethany keeps her eyes on him and sits down. Crossing her legs, glaring right at him, never wavering, now out of curiosity more than anything, Bethany reaches out and takes a sip of her wine, first smelling and investigating the rim and color of it. Vincent catches this and just lets out a chuckle.

“I want to make sure you didn’t slip anything in my drink as my attention was elsewhere. After everything that has happened to me the last six months or so, and in truth, I would go as far to drug someone as I have done many times in the past, though they have also turned it on me, wanting to be aware that I am not setting myself into some trap. Now, you just want to relax and have a drink, look around you Vincent, the restaurant and bar is only a little more than half full, so, you could have sat anywhere Mr. Mondrian, but you chose next to me, why?” her eyebrow arches, awaiting an answer.

“Spot on, Doctor. I could have sat anywhere, but I didn’t.”, Vincent shrugs, “Maybe I was curious. Maybe I saw you here, sitting by yourself – no TLA, no Adam Lucas in sight. Maybe I saw you staring at your glass like you wanted to be anywhere else than here. Maybe I found that interesting.” Vincent pauses for a moment, leaning forward against the counter. “That’s all there is to it, Doc. I’m not sure who traumatized you this way, but it certainly wasn’t me.”

There wasn’t a grand conspiracy, no tactics, no elaborate scheme. He had no secret motive he was trying to conceal – ‘least that’s what Vincent wanted her to believe.

“I wasn’t looking for you, I wasn’t waiting for you, nor did I follow you here.” He tilts his gaze towards her glass. “Nor did I drug your drink.” Another pause follows that last message, “Although, it was certainly funny to watch you inspect it like some kind of forensic investigator. Didn’t know ‘Good Doctors’ did that.”

Vincent leaned back, once again staring at Bethany.

“I’ve got my own wonders, Doctor. You spent quite a bit of time rambling about how bothered and annoyed you were by the fact that I strolled by here, yet, you haven’t left.”, Vincent tilts his head at her, demonstrating his curiosity. “Maybe the better question isn’t why I chose to sit next to you. Maybe it’s why you chose to stay. I ain’t exactly liked and the two of us don’t have any kind of history. So what’s your deal, Doctor?”

Bethany just lets out a sarcastic laugh before sipping her wine.

“If I recall, I was leaving until you tried to stop me, and then I thought about it, why should I leave when I was here first. I don’t know what you think you know about me Mr. Mondrian, but the truth is, aside from the things I have done in the ring which you know better than anyone what I am capable of and not willing to hold myself back to getting into those tactics, if necessary, you have no idea who Dr. Bethany Blue is. When I look at you though, know what I see? A desperate man. Here’s why… you need Silas Mason, teaming up with Ryan Joseph Wilson, a guy who at one point was a dear friend of mine and someone I trusted, but now I wouldn’t do anything for. I don’t mind someone that will do whatever it takes to win gold, I get that better than anyone, but what I don’t understand how a talented, and charismatic, good-looking guy like yourself needs those two in tow.”

Pausing for a moment, she locks eyes back on Vincent as she had his undivided attention.

“See, I’m an open book from head to toe, Vincent. I like expensive things, why? I worked for them. I am also a Doctor who saves lives and is a pillar in the community. Adam is not around because I don’t want him here, he has had his time, is retired, and is off finding himself again on a fishing trip with his friends and family, I am good with that. I can handle myself and all that has happened to me to the point has made me stronger. But there is an ulterior motive, Vincent, don’t know what it is yet with you, so please do tell. Because now… I’m intrigued. Besides….”

Bethany signals the bartender.

“Yes, Dr. Blue?”

“James, give this man a drink, whatever he wants.”

“Sir?”

Vincent points at Bethany’s cup.

“Give me what she’s having.”

The bartender turns around and Vincent turns back to Bethany, giving her the same attention she gave him.

“You wanna know why someone like me is teaming with Ryan and Silas? Simple. They’ve got something I want, and I’ve got something they want. I need to get ahead in my career and make up for the blunders that I seem to keep running into. Is it so bad that I want Silas World to uplift me into the position I know I deserve? Ryan can teach me quite a few things I might not yet know. He’s had his own rough career, I figured why not help him and him help me? You’ve got titles that I want, titles that I need.”

The bartender returns, placing Vincent’s drink right before him. Vincent grabs the glass, taking a sip from it before speaking again.

“Sure, maybe I don’t need Silas or Ryan… But that doesn’t change the fact that I’m still going to move forward with the purpose of becoming Unified Tag Team Champions. You want to know what my deal is? I’m unsatisfied. I’m unsatisfied with my career, with my legacy, with what I can say I’ve done thus far. Seeing as you’re married to Adam Lucas, I’m sure you know what it feels like to be unsatisfied.”

Vincent takes another sip from his drink upon making his cheeky remark.

giphy.gif

“Okay first off, we are not going to make comments about my marriage or husband, secondly, if we can agree to keep the insults to a minimum, I will sit here and converse with you, we are not going to cut promos on each other here. So, let me make this very clear, Silas Mason is a leech, I have seen what he has done to some very good wrestlers and even better people, and though maybe that may not land here in EAW for the Wrestling World is a much bigger place. Now, while I can respect someone like you wanting to get ahead and being unsatisfied is honorable, but Ryan Wilson? One of the biggest snakes in wrestling? Now look, I get it that at one point he had an epiphany and loved the cheers of the fans, but guess what?”

She leans in as Vincent is listening.

“He couldn’t maintain it and went back to exactly what he used to be. You think he is going to win you a championship? Ask TLA if he could guess who did? Me, TLA found the right tag team partner by mistake. Now, you may have your eyes on these titles, sure, but tell me something, after all the misses you had, what did you do about them? Please tell me, because I’ll be honest, if you are nice, I’m going to give you some advice for I have been there.”

Bethany slowly sips her wine, and this time takes some of the charcuterie and eats a little, she even slides the plate over to Vincent in a gesture of a peace offering.

“I didn’t say Ryan was going to win me a championship. That’s ridiculous. The one who is going to win Vincent Mondrian a championship is Vincent Mondrian. The same goes for Ryan. As I said, our goals align and that’s why we’re gunning for the belts that’re strapped around your waists. I don’t really care how much of a snake Ryan was or even currently is so long as I can call myself champion.”

Vincent decides to accept Bethany’s offering, taking from the charcuterie and eating. He finishes chewing and takes a sip from his glass, once again circling back to what Bethany earlier claimed.

“After all those misses… I arrived here. At this bar, sitting here with my opponent at Territorial Invasion and this upcoming Showdown’s Main Event. Nothing has changed since. I’ve only grown hungrier and hungrier every time I step into the ring with a champion holding a championship I desire.”

Vincent takes a pause.

“As for Silas? I don’t care if he’s a leech. I know what he’s capable of creating and I know what I am capable of accomplishing. If he’s a leech, I might as well be one too. I’m tired of dreaming, I’m tired of establishing goals, I’m tired of watching everything I want pass me by.”

Vincent gives Bethany a stern look, meaning every word he meant.

“Funny thing is, you have that same look in those eyes that I have had for many years, Vincent. When I first started in the EAW, everyone thought I was a fucking joke. I remember like the second promo I produced, my opponent called me a gimmick and said I wouldn’t last but a few months. I wrestled six other newbies at my very first EAW Marquee Live Event, guess how many of them are left aside from me? NONE. They were all gone within a year, and I proved them wrong. But my road here didn’t go without embarrassment and humiliation. From winning the Interwire Championship within the first sixty days of my contract, my first six months I was undefeated in singles competition, and yet I ate some pins, it sucked, and then came Darcy May Morgan, fighting in a mud match with Lexi Chambers, to Kassidy Heart shoving a cum sock in my mouth from Gavin Kirkland and that was just the start of it. Getting drugged with my own Propofol by Miku Sakai and losing the Specialist Championship, it was so humiliating, that it finally changed me and even then, I have had to put up with shit after shit until I finally became a World Champion and was given NO respect.”

She pauses for a moment, trying to compose herself, Vincent catches this and is actually admiring this side of Bethany.

“It made me hate everything in this business and I vowed to make it right and be a first ballot Hall of Famer. See, Vincent, these Unified Tag Team titles, TLA and I won because we are professionals. I despised that son of a bitch and he loathed me, but now we are friends for one reason, our goals? They are aligned, but do you think that is it? No, I plan on being a World Champion again. But Ryan? There is a lot of personal shit between he and I, and you decided to attack me from behind a few weeks ago and curb stomp me, I returned the favor last week to remind you that this was the wrong team at the wrong time to fuck with. Look, Vincent, I get what you want, I admire the tenacity and would never shame anyone otherwise to go after what they want, but not after all the shit I went through, no fucking way man.”

A very passionate Dr. Bethany Blue taps her glass as James pours her another glass, she then turns to Vincent awaiting his response.

9e3a9d3d63e23b17d77a4f7af60e523a678604fd.gifv

“I see what you mean. I understand that you’ve struggled, I ain’t taking that from you. I can acknowledge the fact that you’ve struggled, that you’ve had it rough and still make it known that I am not settling for anything less. Maybe I haven’t been drugged or had a cum sock shoved in my mouth…” Vincent pauses, whispering under his breath. “God, what the fuck do you old timers get up to…”, Vincent speaks back up. “I want to be World Champion all the same. I plan on doing so too. That curb stomp a few weeks ago wasn’t because I wanted to, trust me. It was because I had to.”

Vincent leans in towards Bethany, continuing to speak.

“I had to. I always have to. I’ve been talked down to since the very beginning. When I first stepped on the scene, they paired me with two pathetic excuses for Elitists and told me that they were my peers. That they were my comparisons. I despised that, so much so, I did whatever I could to demolish one of them and that guy never showed his ugly mug ever again. As for the other? He imploded on himself. I’d rather die than implode the way they did – I’m going to succeed, Bethany. I know you’ve got your own reasons and I’ve got mine, but when it comes down to it, I’m going to take those titles.”

Vincent leans back, tapping on the glass as he’s given a refill just the same. He takes a sip, turning to Bethany.

“By any means necessary, Doctor.”

She cracks a smirk, her baby brown eyes glare at Vincent.

“Again, admirable, but you haven’t been through what I have, and though there are challenges that you as well have faced, walk in my shoes, though I think your feet are a lot bigger than mine. Now. While the titles I hold are something that you want, I can at least entertain that because if you didn’t want to be a champion, then I would question why you are here. Look, Vincent, I will be honest, what TLA and I have is special. So, I dare you to try and take it from us. Again, when it comes down to wants and needs, when you look at yourself and see what needs to be done in order to get what you want, Vincent, I will always say do whatever it takes but just understand that I will do the same. The cheers of the fans are awesome, but they do not fuel me, I made most of my success with them booing my ass.”

Bethany gets right up to his face.

“And do not think for one second that I will not revert back to do whatever I must in order to take Cataclysm down no matter what this is right now that we are doing.”

She then leans back, tilting her head and waiting for a response, you can tell that Bethany now is ready for anything as she unfolds her legs, her toes even curl, bracing for it to get physical if it must, Vincent catches this. But, Vincent doesn’t move a muscle. He remains calm, relaxed, and laid back.

“This is the part where I attack you, right? The part where I drag you from your seat and toss you over the counter, to the point where I’m never allowed into this bar again?”

Vincent takes a sip of his drink, tilting his head towards Bethany.

“I don’t think I will. I’m not exactly a barbarian, Doc. Sure, I may want to tear everybody in sight limb from limb – but I suppose I’ll make an exception for you tonight. I don’t plan on attacking you, just as you don’t plan on attacking me either.”

This time, it’s Vincent who gets right up and personal with Bethany.

“Good, I don't feel like taking my heels off and dirtying my feet. When it comes down to wants and needs, there’s nothing I need more than the title strapped around your waist. There’s nothing I won’t do.”

Vincent backs up, tapping his glass one more time as James begins to fill it up. Upon completion, Vincent clutches the glass and raises it into the air.

“Cheers to whatever this is, whatever we must do, and whatever we’ve become?”

There is some hesitation, but Bethany eventually raises her glass as it clings.

“Let me leave you with this, nothing is going to stop me from keeping these titles and winning a World Championship again. I know you will have gold around your waist, just not mine. Cheers.”

They both glare at one another as Vincent Mondrian is actually quite impressed, and she is easy on the eyes. He simply nods as they both continue the stare.
