Look. I don’t have to constantly remind the world that I’m “special,” because the truth is: I’m not. If you really think about it, professional wrestling as a whole… is linear. You’ll see plenty of guys like me, guys who have dreamed about this moment their entire lives, guys who strive to make an impact on young minds and inspire them, but also leave an impact on this business, and make it a better place once they’re gone. However, we’ve also seen guys like me fizzle out, or simply go against their beliefs in chase of success, and I get it. Really, I do. It’s easy to do the wrong thing, but it is so hard to do the right thing, especially with the place we are in. Elite Answers Wrestling. I mean, it’s in the name. Elite. So, you have to expect that, on each brand, there are talented men and women everywhere. You’ll have to fight for every inch, and since coming to Dynasty, it’s been that way. From the very beginning. I’ve encountered some elite level athletes in Jay Starr, Nejari Young, Clayton Golde, and most recently… BRAE and Saori Aizen. It’s been a rough few weeks. Not everything has gone my way as of late. I had a chance at the New Breed Championship, and I failed. Last week, I had a chance to redeem myself, and once again… I failed. This week, I face the Interwire Champion, Vincent Mondrian, and I understand there’s a high chance history repeats itself. So, going back to earlier… I get it. I get why people can fizzle out, or… become different people entirely. Because in Elite Answers Wrestling, it’s easy to be discouraged, and lose your smile. Therefore, a man’s true character will be tested, and oftentimes, reveal itself once the going gets tough, so you’re probably waiting. Waiting to see my true character poke out, and reveal itself too, but I must warn you. You’d be waiting a long time. No, not because I’m great at hiding it or anything, but because you’ve already seen it. Heading into the match with Jay Starr, I was as open and honest as could be. I could’ve played the arrogant card, I could’ve called our match a “foregone conclusion,” but I didn’t. Because to me, it wasn’t. Though, it was the source of many emotions that week, including fear, stress, and excitement to name a few. However, I fought through them, because that’s who I am. That’s what sets me apart from most people. That’s why you’ll never see Corey Hale make the same mistakes as others. When pressure gets applied, I refuse to crumble, but rather dig down deep, and rise to the occasion. Lately, tons of pressure has been applied, yet I’ve made no excuses. I’ve acknowledged that BRAE was the better man in our match, and here, I’ll acknowledge that Saori was the better competitor in our match as well. But losing? Losing sucks at first, but losing is part of life, and after a while, you get over it.
Because in Elite Answers Wrestling, sure, it’s easy to be discouraged. Sure, it’s easy to lose your smile, but it is just as easy to gain it right back. Because in Elite Answers Wrestling, there lies… opportunity. Road to Redemption is a massive opportunity. It’s an opportunity to win the Extreme Enigma Battle Royal, and I plan to take full advantage of it, but I’m not overlooking the opportunity that lies in front of me this week either. Come Dynasty, I face the new Interwire Champion, Vincent Mondrian, who I’d like to congratulate. Congratulations on becoming Champion, even if it was under shady circumstances, which I’ll get to in a minute, but it’s funny. I knew we would meet again, Vincent, but I was hoping there’d be a championship to accompany me as well. Obviously, it didn’t turn out that way, but you're a prime example of what I mean. In Elite Answers Wrestling, opportunity lies everywhere, and things change within an instant, because who would’ve thought that after… after losing against Holly Arrow at House of Glass, you’d bounce back in such a big way? Vincent, that happened because of your ability to stand up, and dust yourself off. You could’ve sat there. You could’ve whined, moaned, and complained, but you didn’t. You threw out a challenge to then Interwire Champion, Hans Grayson, and everybody called you crazy. No one thought you could do it. You went into that match as the underdog, and… you came out of it victorious. So, once again, maybe I find myself taking inspiration. Because it’s no secret that I’m walking into this match the underdog, but Vincent, don’t for one second underestimate me. Because come Dynasty, this underdog will fight with everything he has in order to win, and most of all, prove that he belongs, something I fight to accomplish each time I’m out there. And despite being a Champion, I know you can relate, because each time you’re out there, you’ll have to fight for the honor and privilege of even calling yourself that. Because being a champion means more than simply having a shiny piece of metal around your waist. Being Champion means you must uphold a precedent. You must uphold a precedent set by those like Hans Grayson, who elevated that title to great heights, and why? Because he never backed down from a challenge. Because he accepted smoke from any and all competitors, so I hope you do the same. Because while your win was controversial, Vincent, it was out of your control. You didn’t ask for Impact to come running down there, and ruining things once the referee’s attention was turned. Hell, you probably didn’t realize until the match was over. Like I said, it was out your control, but what is in your control… is that. The Interwire Championship. You can control the kind of Champion you want to be, and the legacy you leave behind once somebody inevitably dethrones you for it.
Do you want to be a champion that helped elevated that title to greater heights, or do you want to be a Champion that helped drag it’s lineage down? It’s up to you, but you’re headed in the right direction. At Road to Redemption, you’ll defend that title against Jay Jerry Johnson, and don’t underestimate him either, because that’s the same mistake Kirk made. But your focus does not need to be on Jay, at least not for right now, because your focus needs to be on me, and what happens after you’re through with Jay at Road to Redemption, because you’ll likely be wondering “who’s next?” Well, I plan to answer that question, so it’s not even a thought in your mind once the dust settles. Because to answer “who’s next,” it’ll be the guy that pinned you a week ago, and that guy is me.
