I'd appreciate some general feedback like Harley asked, too.

And I don't know if this is appropriate for the thread or if I'll get a response but I was wondering if you guys had any advice on how to stop taking e-fedding so seriously? This is supposed to be fun and yet, I end up stressing due to deadlines and to keep up the quality of my promos. Any advice on that? Thank you on advance.

I took this so seriously when I first began too (mostly wanting to impress people as well as my own issues; my autism, detrimental mental health etc. which made me see losing as me being a failure), so I know where you're coming from. I don't take it seriously now, thankfully, but my advice is to not rush for deadlines. If an opponent puts out a promo, don't reply to them straight away and think that quickness = better. Take time to reply to them (within the deadline of course). If you go to my first promo here, you'll see that it was utter trash - but with losses and wins, I also developed my character which led to more stuff to put in promos. Your promos are great each week and I'm sure others can vouch for that, too.

What also helped me in making better promos is to make bullet points when reading your opponent's promo, so you have some helpful things on your mind to add in. It's hard to say "just don't take it seriously" because not everyone is the same, and feels the same way, but try not to focus on it too much. At the end of the day, this IS just for fun and if you're not having that, you need to look at what is wrong.

I'm sure more experienced members could give some better advice, but I just wanted to throw my two cents in as someone who has been through what you're going through.

First off, thank you for taking the time to respond, it means a lot to get advice on something like this. I can relate a bit more since I can tell that it's my anxiety acting up (hope that's not opening up too much ), and especially when you the factors; the FPV deadline is in just a day and so many promos are being dropped at almost the same time AND if I lose, then I genuinely have no clue where to drive my character from there, since he's very confident and professional but he has plenty of losses.

But again, thank you so much for the words. I'll do whatever I can to apply your advice and carry on.

Hey guys. I know I’m new and such but I’ve been doing this long enough to know how important feedback is. Whether it’s for shows, RPs, segments, or the general direction of a character, I know we all spend an inordinate amount of time on this hobby to justify the want for feedback.

With that said, I’d like to see some feedback on my work thus far. As a new guy coming in, it’s imperative to know where I stand with the “new crew” and to get a pulse on how people operate here. What you like, don’t like (as long as it’s constructive)… anything that might elicit a thought in your head.

I’ll be doing some unsolicited feedback on some of the work I’m seeing, too. Y’all work so hard on EAW that it’d be a shame to not get some fresh perspective on how things are rolling along.

Alright, I probably don't have the 'veteran' experience that a lot of these guys have, so I'll consider this from a writing perspective, as well as my inputs on wrestling, or open rp in general.

First off, one of my biggest pet peeves with your promos is the constant use of first person pronouns like I, or My. When you're delivering a promo in speech, saying "I will beat the fuck out of you" is acceptable, because it's automatically considered to be from your character's perspective. On the other hand, scene RPs do not follow the same rules. You are not the wrestler, Arthur is— so write him as such. Use things like "He" or "Arthur" to refer to your wrestler, not yourself. I think a lot of people will agree in that case, and I feel like that's something you should definitely fix and work on as your days go by in EAW.

Secondly, I admire your use of quotations in your promos. It's a creative use for it and I hope many more will learn from it, especially considering it allows for writings and messages to be shown in more mysterious and rather sinister manner.

First of all, thank you for providing feedback. I do greatly appreciate it.

However, I emphatically disagree about your opinion on the first person narrative style. Because that’s ultimately what it is— an opinion. I know a lot of talented writers in E-Fedding who do the first-person style for their description and I find it very unique and creative. I used to do the plain old third-person perspective for description but I grew tired of it and wanted something that was a bit more challenging for me personally and different for a character like Arthur Pleasant. Plus, adding in Arthur’s sociopathic idiosyncrasies is just too much fun not to utilize.

(BTW, first person narrative isn’t something new. There’s a ton of novels out there with this style and you can check out some titles here https://www.goodreads.com/shelf/show/first-person-narration)

Sorry you don’t like this style, but saying ‘that’s not how it works’ and speaking for everyone in such a definitive way is an incredibly close-minded stance to take. I don’t plan on changing this style based on one person’s opinion, but I will IF the entire room reaches out and gives me some sort of ultimatum. So until then, it is in fact a style and I plan on sticking with it. I’d rather not have to do that even if people reach out, but I will because I don’t want people to simply not read my promos because they don’t like the style. (Even if that would be compromising my own writing and Arthur’s style.)

Seeing things in a scene from Arthur’s POV is all a part of the experience, and I hope the more I write him the more you’ll come to understand what I’m talking about.

Lastly, I’m not sure what you mean by the ‘quotations’…? Do you mean my storytelling style when doing some character development or something else entirely?

Hi, I have a few (loads of) questions that I hope don't insult you but I will try my best.

- Who is canon? I figured this is RP so none of the wrestlers our characters portrayed are real but in terms of celebrities, do they exist in EAW World? (Think like Keanu Reeves or Tyga)
- Is there a scoring system for promos or like grades? How is a winner decided?
- Once you lock in a face/heel alignment, can I change it or is it booker discretion? (I'm not looking to, just trying to understand)
- Are there any styles of promos you would/wouldn't recommend writing? I've read some promos so far and a good amount seem roast vs roast environment so was wondering if that's the approached style.
- Am I allowed to make my own titantron to put in my promos?

Who is Canon?
The way it's played is basically no known wrestling promotion exists, so you can't say you tried for WWE or was in AEW a while or whatever. BUT! Any E-fed you may have been a part of before but they are all seen as lesser than EAW who is like the number one company in the world in our world. So unless ( Like Logan Paul ) a the picbase is used then the person exists.

Scoring System
I'm basing this on what I know: The winner of a match is more often than not based on promo quality, sometimes it's decided based on the story and that the booker has planned but in general promo quality is what determines the winners.

Alignment change
You can change if you want, but it's best to discuss with your brand booker so that it can be worked into the shows. A booker may try to keep you with the alignment you're at if he or she thinks it's best for your character or the ongoing story.

Promo Styles
It's not a style of promo more than some things that shouldn't be said. All in good taste and in the name of decency and respect at all times.

I'll start by saying this: Never, and I mean N-e-v-e-r hesitate to ask questions! I've been doing e-feds for a very long time and still to this day I ask people's opinions on my own material because 1. I want to make sure it's good and 2. I want to work to improve.

Don't worry about your writing, I think it's quite good from what I can read so give yourself that credit.
Keep in mind that quantity doesn't matter as well so long as the quality is there. I've seen people win and be mad successful with a third of your last promo and the same goes for some who I saw regularly post twice as much.

What I'm telling you is this: Write to have fun, because after all this is a game. Don't overthink things, and don't sweat the small stuff because that's all it is. What matters is your enjoyment of what you do and in terms that will show in your work.
